Widality, the team behind the popular BlackBerry business app momentem™, sponsored and attended BlackBerry DEVCON 2010 last week in San Francisco. We wanted to highlight a few of our achievements including appearing in the keynote as the featured Payment Service app during the keynote speech by RIM Vice President of Global Alliances and Developer Relations, Tyler Lassard.

Payment Service is RIM’s new way of monetizing apps via in-app billing, and momentem will be one of the launch apps using Payment Service when it commences. Along with being featured in the keynote, our Payment Service demo was showcased on the BlackBerry App world booth all week and in the Taking Advantage of BlackBerry Services for Commercial Success session run by Alex Kinsella and Mike Kirkup of RIM.

Kicking off the conference, Terry Hughes, Widality’s Head of Market Development, presented a session about a 10 Point Plan for Rolling out a BlackBerry App to a full house Monday morning. To read Terry’s presentation click here.

Following on from Terry’s session on Monday he was also invited to speak as one of four panel members at the Developer Success Stories session on the final day of the conference, alongside Mike Kirkup, Director of developer Relations, at RIM. On the developer side, Widality’s Lead Developer Anton Gankovsky won the top place in the 2010 Developers’ Challenge beating hundreds of other hopefuls. Anton had to prove that he could write BlackBerry code better than any other developer. We are very proud of Anton and his win!

We also launched our Super App version of momentem which was a featured app on BlackBerry App World throughout the week, where we achieved an unprecedented number of downloads. To read all about the new Super App features of momentem click here.

On the Tuesday of the conference we issued a press release about our Super App which was highlighted by RIM on their partner press page. Read it here.

Along with the launch of our Super App version we were selected as a regional finalist in the BlackBerry Partners Fund™ Super App Developer Challenge. As a regional winner Widality now will compete for a total prize package valued at over US$1.5 million. The applications chosen as finalists all take advantage of the BlackBerry® platform's Super App aspects.

Just prior to DEVCON we hit another milestone with momentem on September 18th when we announced we had logged 5 million calls in our system. This means that over 5 million times momentem users have tagged a call or email to a client or project to track their time.

We also are pleased to announce that Widality, in conjunction with Grow Wireless, have setup the Calgary BlackBerry Developers Group. To learn about upcoming events and join the group click here.

Finally, we had some great press interviews at DEVCON 2010 and will be posting the media coverage as it is published. The first article, an exclusive from Pocket Berry on the new Super App features of momentem™ can be read here.

For the Widality team, DEVCON2010 was a chance to strengthen our relationship with RIM and their developer ecosystem, to launch our new Super App version of momentem, and to celebrate our achievements.
